Day 1 – Start in the morning from Malang – Tumpak Sewu -Cemara Lawang | Bromo Ijen Tumpak Sewu

The driver will pick you up from any place in Malang city. In about 2 hours you will reach Sidomulyo villages, when you arrive you will go to view Tumpak Sewu Point from the top by walking with a local guide.

After enjoying the view from the top you will walk to the bottom of Tumpak Sewu waterfall the road isn’t well paved and at the bamboo stairs, you might need some help to climb the 15 meters down to get near the waterfall.

Then you will continue to Goa Tetes waterfall the same way back to the top. Your guide will be leading you back to the parking lot then Have lunch before driving to Cemara Lawang. You will arrive evening in Cemara Lawang.

Day 2: Mount Bromo sunrise tour – Ijen | Bromo Ijen Tumpak Sewu

You will have to wake up early morning as the sun is an early bird too. 03.00 o’clock in the morning is a wonderful moment to have a cup of coffee or tea. Then you will depart for a 40-minute drive to Mt. Pananjakan. Mt. Pananjakan is the highest viewpoint in the area to see the sunrise.

Weather conditions determine the sea of color that you are going to see. Once the sun warmed you up – as it is cold at the top, between 0 and 10 ºC – you will meet your driver again. It is time to visit the eye-catching volcano itself, Mt. Bromo.

You will cross the Sea of Sand (please stop if you wish). In the last part of the crater, you will have to walk. It will take about 45 minutes to get to Bromo’s crater rim. Take a look in its mouth, enjoy the surroundings and inhale the morning freshness. Take your time.

Once back at your Jeep, you will return to your hotel to have breakfast and check out. Then you continue by private car via a winding road that leads you over the hill Arak-Arak to Bondowoso. Have your lunch (not included) at a spot with some beautiful views.

Day 3: Ijen trekking – Ketapang/Bali/Surabaya | Bromo Ijen Tumpak Sewu

If you wish to see the blue fire, you will have to leave around midnight. It takes about 1,5 hours to reach Paltuding where your local guide is waiting for you with your gas mask. It takes at least one hour to reach the top of Mt. Ijen, from where you descend into the crater to get near the blue fire. Please note that watching the blue fire is only for those who are in a good condition.

Once the sun is about to rise, you can enjoy a colorful panorama from the crater rim. At the same time, many sulfur miners are at work. It is heavy-duty to carry loads of around 80 kilograms up the rim and then down the slopes of Mt. Ijen. After you experienced Ijen crater lake, there is still time to visit the sulfur factory where sulfur is purified and packed in Licin village. On your way to the harbor, you can also visit a coffee factory and a waterfall. Then we drop you at the harbor in Ketapang, where you can catch the ferry to Bali.

Mount Bromo

Mt. Bromo volcano in East Java is the active cone inside the giant Tengger caldera, one of Indonesia’s most scenic location destinations in East Java, famous for its magnificent sunrise views and the panorama over the caldera with Semeru volcano in the background.

Kawah Ijen

Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen Volcano, on the island of Java, has two of the most unusual occurrences on Earth. The first is an active solfatara that emits hot, flammable sulfurous gases. These ignite as they enter Earth’s oxygen-rich atmosphere and burn with an electric blue flame. Some of the gas condenses in the atmosphere to produce flows of molten sulfur that also burn with an electric blue flame. The flames are difficult to see during the day but illuminate the landscape at night.

The second occurrence is a one-kilometer-wide caldera lake filled with turquoise-blue water. The color of the water is a result of its extreme acidity and a high concentration of dissolved metals. It is the world’s largest highly acidic lake with a measured pH as low as 0.5. The cause of its acidity is an inflow of hydrothermal waters charged with gases from a hot magma chamber below.

Mount Bromo Ijen crater Detail Program

Day 01. Surabaya (airport/hotel) – Cemara Lawang 

We pick you up at your hotel in Malang. We drive in approximately four hours to the village of Cemara Lawang. We overnighted in the Bromo area to stay in a hotel overlooking the landscape and volcano Bromo.

Day 02.  Mount Bromo sunrise tour – Ijen | Mount Bromo Ijen crater

You will be wakened up at 03.00 a.m., have a cup of coffee or tea before we leave for a short drive – 40 minutes – to Pananjakan, the highest viewpoint in the area to see the sunrise. But, of course, whether you can see the sunrise depends on the weather conditions. Then we will descend to the Sea of Sand to see the crater of mount Bromo.

Afterward, we go back to the hotel to have breakfast. After that, we continue our trip and drive around 4 hours to Pasir Putih Beach to have lunch at a beachside restaurant.

Hereafter, we drive for another 3 hours before we arrive at the village Sempol/Blawan (Ijen area) to pass the night. You have time to explore the surroundings and spend some leisure time in the hotel if you like. There is, among others, a hot spring in the area.

Day 03. Ijen trekking – Surabaya | Mount Bromo Ijen crater

Around 01:00 am, the Ijen expedition team, will bring you to the parking area of Mount Ijen, around 50 minutes from the hotel. This trip crossed the Arabica coffee plantation. After arrival at the parking area, continued trekking to the Ijen crater it’s needed around 1.5 until 2 hours. trekking to the Ijen crater about 3Km ( 2.386m ). enjoying the wonderful blue fire/blue flame and acid lake.

After sunrise, the Ijen expedition team will bring you back to the parking area, on the way you can see the beautiful panorama and the sulfur miners. Around 1 hour you will arrive di the parking area, here you can drink some coffee or tea after that we continue to drive back to Malang,  Surabaya, Ketapang harbor. and the tour program finishes.
